We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking an Assistant Project Manager, Environmental Engineer to work in a technical support role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients.
This is a full‑time position located in our San Diego, CA office.
In this position, you will:
- Split time among completing technical tasks, such as field assignments, reporting, and analysis of task management and project management support activities.
- Leverage understanding of technical scopes of work for assigned work and their alignment with overall project objectives to deliver quality assignments.
- Demonstrate and apply technical competence, knowledge of codes and regulations, and professional standards of practice to assigned tasks.
- Collaborate closely with project teams, field teams, and health and safety personnel to address client goals and objectives, ensuring technical accuracy, quality, budget, schedule, and safety requirements are met.
- Assist the project management team throughout the project lifecycle, including cost estimating, scheduling, subcontracting, resource allocation, project planning, task delegation, and financial management.
- Prepare and/or review written communications and technical deliverables.
- Engage in internal and external communications with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Coach, mentor, and direct junior staff to ensure high‑quality execution of project tasks, including field activities and preparation of technical reports and deliverables, while facilitating knowledge transfer for team development.
- Plan and manage field investigation programs, including pre‑design laboratory and field data and/or pilot testing data collection programs associated with environmental projects.
- Lead and oversee project environmental data reduction, summarization, visualization tasks; feasibility studies, remedial design, cost estimating and permitting tasks, remedial construction, and remedial system O&M tasks.
- Plan all work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols.
- Demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.
Minimum Skills and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 6+ years of related experience.
- Professional CA PE registration or certification, as applicable.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient computer literacy skills, including the use of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint) and the ability to learn various software needed to support financial management, diverse project needs, and client requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of GIS, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and groundwater modeling software.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including:
- Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) hazardous waste generator requirements.
- Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) requirements (40 CFR Part 112)
- Clean Water Act (CWA) programs (stormwater and wastewater)
- Clean Air Act (CAA) permitting and compliance basics
- Able to meet the physical requirements of the position: lift 50 lbs., traverse unstable/sloping sites and landscapes, work outside in a range of weather conditions, and have the stamina for moderate physical activity for the majority of field working hours.
- Able to travel to work locations that may require overnight stays.
