Provide technical and engineering support for the design and development of new and existing medical device products. Improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency, supply reliability, and cost for current products. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to execute projects and contribute innovative ideas to enhance product performance or develop new solutions.
Understand customer and user needs through research, interviews, observation, competitive analysis, prototyping, and clinical or simulated testing. Translate these needs into clear engineering requirements and product, packaging, and process specifications. Design reliable, manufacturable products that meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Design and develop analog and digital circuits for medical devices, with a focus on low‑power, battery‑operated systems. Create schematics and PCB layouts using industry tools (Altium, Allegro, OrCAD, or similar), applying high‑speed design, grounding, and shielding best practices. Support embedded systems development, including microcontrollers, firmware integration, and communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, BLE).
Develop and execute test methods and verification plans, including EMC/EMI testing, measurement system analysis, and data evaluation. Perform hands‑on testing and troubleshooting using lab equipment. Document results through technical reports, design verification activities, and risk management files (FMEA, Design History Files).
Ensure compliance with company quality systems and applicable medical device standards and regulations, including IEC 60601 and ISO 13485. Provide technical leadership, share knowledge, and support the professional growth of team members.
Required Qualifications (Must-Have)
- Analog and digital circuit design experience for medical devices
- Low‑power design for battery‑operated products
- Knowledge of IEC 60601, ISO 13485, and EMC/EMI compliance (Nice to have)
- PCB schematic design and layout experience (Altium, Allegro, OrCAD, or similar)
- Understanding of high‑speed design, grounding, and shielding techniques
- Embedded systems experience with microcontrollers and firmware integration
- Familiarity with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, BLE)
- Experience with risk management and documentation (FMEA, DHF)
- Hands‑on testing and troubleshooting using lab equipment
- Ability to develop test plans and execute design verification protocols.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)
- Wireless connectivity experience (Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi)
- Knowledge of cybersecurity for connected medical devices
- Experience with battery management systems, charging circuits, DC/DC converters, and power optimization
- Exposure to FPGA or ASIC design
- Basic experience with Python or MATLAB for data analysis
- Familiarity with RTOS‑based embedded systems
- Understanding of IEC 62366 usability engineering
- Experience working on Class II or Class III medical devices
