What this job involvesThis role offers an exciting opportunity to drive operational excellence in facility management. The Reliability Engineer will provide comprehensive engineering support for the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings and utilities. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing strategies to ensure safe operations, maximizing equipment reliability, and optimizing maintenance costs while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
The position also focuses on applying efficient technologies to various building systems—including lighting, HVAC, utilities, and power—to reduce operating costs. The engineer will utilize advanced maintenance strategies and predictive technologies to optimize system performance, enhance lifecycle cost management, and improve return on investment. This multifaceted role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and innovative problem‑solving to elevate facility performance and efficiency.
Day‑to‑dayresponsibilities
- Lead and execute the reliability excellence and maintenance program; write and maintain reliability maintenance strategy documents.
- Rank asset criticality using Reliability Centered Maintenance approaches and define proactive maintenance approaches that are cost‑beneficial.
- Identify and implement predictive maintenance technologies; manage predictive maintenance equipment.
- Administer programs such as Thermography, vibration analysis, lube oil monitoring for the site and regionally; include vendor selection, program scooping/scheduling, analysis review, and corrective action follow‑up.
- Perform/support operational events and equipment failure investigations to ensure root cause and causal factors are identified, corrective actions prescribed, and follow‑up monitoring conducted.
- Conduct program and system/equipment audits periodically and as needed; focus on safety, regulatory compliance, maintenance effectiveness, cost savings, and energy conservation.
- Participate in planning, design review, value management, and construction document development of new facilities and renovations; support utility distribution, master planning, and business continuity planning.
- Perform life‑cycle financial modeling of developed technical solutions; construct detailed technical proposals and draft bid documents.
- Support commissioning activities for all upgrade, renovation, and construction projects, including PM job plans, maintainability reviews, critical spares, documentation, etc.
- Develop and maintain new key performance indicators of equipment reliability.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Minimum 5 years of engineering experience with mechanical design, testing, and international quality standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Previous experience working in facilities or plant management.
- Certified Plant Engineer or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional.
- Experience with predictive maintenance technologies including vibration analysis, oil analysis, infrared thermography, ultrasound, and motor current analysis.
- Experience with root cause failure analysis, equipment criticality ranking, PM/PdM optimization, and/or FMEA.
- Comprehensive knowledge of engineering principles applied to design, operation, and maintenance of building structures and mechanical and electrical equipment for buildings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs such as Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
