Rock West Composites, Inc. is an engineering and manufacturing company dedicated to providing innovative solutions for commercial and government customers. This position is located in our San Diego, CA location and reports to the Quality Manager.

Position Summary

The Quality Engineer will have the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to ensure compliance with customer engineering and quality requirements throughout the production process from receipt of purchase order to delivery of product. Responsibilities include customer specific quality requirements, procurement and processing requirements, document control, contract review, and job/work quality assurance planning. The role requires strong attention to detail and advanced experience in quality engineering.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Contract review of customer purchase orders to ensure full understanding and compliance with quality and engineering requirements and assessment of any associated risks.
  • Review and approve internal work orders to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Review and approve procedures, work instructions and/or forms in compliance with industry and AS9100 standards.
  • Internal auditing to AS9100 Rev D requirements and internal standard work.
  • Collaborate with planning, outside processors, and customers to facilitate the creation and approval of controlled manufacturing plans.
  • Assist in the implementation, and administration of other QA and company activities including risk management, configuration control, training, auditing, corrective actions, continuous improvement, and preventative actions.
  • Perform in‑depth root cause, corrective and preventive actions using 5‑Y’s and other root‑cause analysis tools.
  • Adhere to all workplace safety guidelines, policies, and laws determined by the company, state, and federal authorities.
Required

Education and Experience
  • 5 years of experience in composite quality related roles.
  • Preferred degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience with composite materials and processing techniques such as autoclave, RTM, and compression molding.
  • Experience with AS9100 quality management system.
  • Excellent working knowledge of composites.
  • Self‑starter with excellent time management skills and ability to establish objectives and specify the strategies and actions to achieve these objectives.
  • Understand, follow and adhere to corporate Quality Management System on a daily basis.
  • Experience with contact and noncontact inspection methods.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems to record temperature, position, and pressure.
  • Organized, self‑motivated, strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple duties, set priorities and follow tasks through completion.
  • Capable of working in an environment where demands and priorities change.
  • US. Person under 22 CFR 120 (due to ITAR Restrictions).

Compensation

The compensation range for this position falls within $90,000 and $120,000. The final compensation will be determined based on experience, skillset, and other factors permitted by law.
