What You'll Be DoingSGH has an opening for a Senior Project Manager (SPM). This is an experienced technical manager, leadership-track, and shareholder position with responsibilities generally consistent with ASCE Grade V and will include the following:
- Design emphasizing constructability, simplicity, standardization, and risk‑informed criteria as core principles to support economical facility construction.
- Engineering challenges involving safety, efficiency, reliability, and natural hazards in highly regulated markets.
- Specialized expertise in structural dynamics, soil‑structure interaction, seismic engineering, technology development, and risk and reliability assessment for energy‑related assets and complex infrastructure systems.
- Concept design and detailed design for mission critical facilities: advanced nuclear facilities, fusion energy facilities, U.S. Department of Energy facilities, hospitals, U.S. Government defense facilities.
- In a supervisory capacity, plans, develops, coordinates, and directs a large and important engineering project or a number of small projects with many complex features.
- Supervision and guidance related largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.
- Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of a small staff of engineers and technicians, estimates workforce needs and schedules, and assigns work to meet completion date.
- Works with a degree of independence such that approach, results, and judgments are subject to a final review by the Principal‑in‑Charge without major rework.
- Prepares major reports.
- In consultation with the Principal‑in‑Charge, develops project scope and budget, and successfully manages time, quality, budget, and schedule goals.
- Prepares proposals for complex assignments.
- Deals directly with clients.
- Applies knowledge of risk management and contract negotiation procedures.
SPMs apply intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
- 8+ years of relevant civil engineering experience or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Professional licensure required.
- MS or PhD with a concentration in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field from an ABET‑accredited university.
- Excellent personal qualities, especially ethics and honesty; works well with others and provides enthusiastic help and support when appropriate.
