Job SummaryUnder minimal supervision, provide Journeyman-level support to accomplish maintenance, repair and overhaul of shipboard propulsion and power generation gas turbine engines and associated support equipment.
Responsibilities- Disassemble, inspect, repair, overhaul, reassemble, and test shipboard gas turbine engines including:
- General Electric (GE) LM2500 and LM2500 Plus
- Rolls Royce 501‑K17, 501‑K34, KB5 and 250 (RIMSS)
- Rolls Royce MT30
- Honeywell TF‑40B
- Sun Strand T‑62
- Solar Saturn
- Utilize shop equipment such as precision measuring equipment, 55‑ton hydraulic press, arbor press, drill press, bench grinder, precision grinders, parts sandblasting machine, and portable electrical, pneumatic, and hand tools.
- Perform ship‑checks, validate and diagnose equipment condition, and define required corrective actions.
- Assess feasibility of work by I‑level Production shops and ensure job completion within scheduled goals and timelines.
- Attend and participate in production meetings to report status of gas turbine maintenance actions.
- Act professionally in all communications and dealings with internal and external customers.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 4 years of work‑related experience.
- Minimum 6 years of specialized experience assessing and executing marine gas turbine repair requirements.
- Understanding of modifying and repairing shipboard systems, equipment, and their components, and associated marine gas turbine operations.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Sound interpersonal skills for coordinating with company personnel, customers, and outside contacts.
- Basic computer operations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance.
- Prior satisfactory completion of Navy gas turbine schools.
- Current MGTI credentials.
- Understanding of drawings, technical manuals, and related data resources, including Naval Ships Engineering Drawing Repository (NSEDR) and Technical Data Management Information System (TDMIS).
- Knowledgeable in Navy QA and Planning procedures.
- Knowledgeable in Navy Quality assurance practices and JFMM chapters related to gas turbine maintenance.
$26.26/hr – $32.53/hr individual salaries are determined by business considerations, local market conditions, internal equity, and candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.
ADA Notations- Require walking, reaching, sitting, and concentration in the presence of occasional noise.
- Ability to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways, and up and down antenna masts/yardarms onboard ships.
- Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 lbs.
- Office environment, shipboard, waterfront, and shops.
