Overview
San Diego State University’s Department of Educational Leadership, College of Education, is accepting applications for a part-time lecturer pool for Academic Year . Applications are invited from prospective temporary faculty with expertise or experience in Educational Leadership, school supervision, and organizational leadership.
ResponsibilitiesTemporary appointments may be full- or part-time and are often made just prior to the start of the academic term. The Fall term runs mid-August to late-December; the Spring term runs mid-January to mid-May;
Summer Session opportunities may also be available. Initial appointments are typically one semester or one academic year, and are renewabled based on satisfactory evaluations and continuing availability of work. Assignments in the lecturer pool are determined by teaching needs and may include teaching courses in the identified areas.
- Graduate degree in educational leadership or related field
- University teaching experience or supervision of clinical practices
- Demonstrated currency in subject matter
- Preferred:
California licensure in administrative services

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank and placed at the beginning of the range. As of July 2024, the salary ranges are:
- Lecturer A: $5,507 - $6,677
- Lecturer B: $6,221 - $13,224
- Lecturer C: $6,825 - $14,523
- Lecturer D: $8,593 - $15,211
Pursuant to Education Code 89521, CSU requires that employment applicants disclose any final administrative decision or final judicial decision within the last seven years determining that the applicant committed sexual harassment. Disclosures shall be provided to the San Diego State University Center for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination at cphd. A background check (including criminal records) must be completed satisfactorily before any offer of employment.
Final authorization to conduct background checks is required for finalists; applications may be considered incomplete without authorization.
The position requires compliance with the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act as a mandated reporter and with CSU Executive Order 1083, as a condition of employment. A background check must be completed satisfactorily before any offer of employment. Failure to do so may affect the application status or continued employment.
