Description

A full-time temporary clinical lecturer position is available to begin Fall 2025 in the San Diego State University’s School of Physical Therapy. The school is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

This position is temporary and subject to terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the California State University system and the California Faculty Association.

We are currently seeking applicants with academic and practice expertise for a position in Neurological Rehabilitation. This position reports to the Director of the School of Physical Therapy.

Qualified applicants must hold an earned doctorate Physical Therapy. Board Certification (particularly NCS) is highly desirable. This position will require 15 units of workload at the graduate level.

Preference will be given to candidates with teaching and clinical expertise in neurologic rehabilitation and management (neurophysiological evaluation and therapeutic management, neuroscience, motor control, rehabilitation science, or related field).

This position will teach and provide clinical expertise for neuro-related content in the DPT curriculum (DPT 835/DPT 835L Neurophysiological Therapeutics I [and lab], DPT 836/DPT
836L Neurophysiological II [and lab], DPT 710 Patient Evaluation II, DPT 782 Therapeutic Exercise, DPT 880 Differential Diagnosis, and DPT 886 Functional Neuro-biomechanical Relationships). The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage the program’s neurological tract, collaborating with other faculty to better integrate neuro content throughout the curriculum, and collaborate with other Schools within the College of Health and Human Services to develop interprofessional educational experiences.

This position will play a crucial role in elevating the DPT program to a nationally recognized program of clinical teaching at SDSU.

The Fall term begins mid-August and end late-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.

Initial appointments are typically one semester or one academic year, to be renewed contingent on satisfactory evaluations and continuing availability of work. Applications will remain in our applicant pool during the academic year you apply.

Qualifications

Applicants are required to have:

  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist in the state of California
  • Current clinical expertise and experience in neurological rehabilitation

Preferred qualifications include:

  • National Board Certification
  • A minimum of three years teaching experience at the graduate level

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring school. Most new appointees are hired at the Lecturer B rank and placed at the beginning of the range.

The anticipated hiring salary range is $110,000 to $113,000 annually.
