- Annual Salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code §87815, any required adjustment will be made within the first pay period.
- Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011).
- Typically, Assistant Professors earn tenure after 4 years and promote to Associate Professor.

The Position:
San Diego City College is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Computer Science. A successful candidate will teach a range of courses that focus on programming, software development, and data structures. City College is an urban campus within the San Diego Community College District dedicated to DEI. It serves a diverse student population and is located near major city landmarks.
In addition to expertise in Computer Information Systems and Computer Science, the college seeks candidates who can develop tools and resources to serve historically marginalized populations. Candidates should demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), and social justice.
The candidate selected is expected to start in Fall 2026 academic year). Teaching schedules vary by class schedule and student needs. The current vacancy is at City College, but assignments may occur at any District facility at the Chancellor’s option. Assignments may include online, day, evening, Saturday, and/or off-campus classes. The position reports to the Dean of the School of Business, Information Technology, Cosmetology, Engineering & Technologies.
MajorResponsibilities
- Teach college-level lecture and laboratory courses in computer science and computer information science topics using traditional and alternative methods of instruction.
- Experience teaching in a college classroom in computer science and/or computer information systems.
- Incorporate new technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), in teaching and curriculum development.
- Advise and assist students in education and career development.
- Collaborate with department and interdisciplinary faculty to plan, develop, implement, and assess courses in information technology subject areas.
