Initial salary placement is based on verified and accepted educational/work experience in accordance with the current City College of San Francisco Faculty Salary Schedule. The annual salary range upon entry is from $75,466 to $115,214 for 175 days of service or pro‑rated for one semester or fewer days of service. New full‑time faculty hires will have two additional service days, in their first year of service only, for the purpose of attending mandatory new faculty orientation.

They will receive “independent flex credit” for such attendance, but no additional pay.

Position

Description:

CCSF serves a remarkably diverse student population and welcomes individuals who are planning to transfer to university, training to enter the job market, or satisfying their curiosity by acquiring new knowledge and skills. The Chemistry Department is currently looking for faculty to fill a full‑time, tenure‑track position. We need faculty who can provide instruction in a wide range of chemistry‑related topics.

We serve students who intend to major in such diverse fields as biochemistry/biotechnology, engineering, medicine & health sciences, biology, and physics.

Job Duties
  • Teach in‑person lecture and laboratory sections of lower‑division, university‑parallel chemistry courses, which may include general chemistry, organic chemistry, and instrumental analysis.
  • Teach in‑person lecture and laboratory sections of preparatory courses offered by the Chemistry Department, including chemistry for allied‑health careers.
  • Teach daytime, in‑person sections at the Ocean Campus, or possibly in the future, at our other Centers.
  • Provide instruction in accordance with the Chemistry Department’s established course outlines and the College Catalog.
  • Perform duties associated with instructing students, assessing their progress in relation to identified student learning outcomes, and maintaining thorough course records.
  • Participate in departmental and college‑wide functions, such as assessment of student learning outcomes, professional development activities, and committee work.
  • Support and engage in culturally responsive, inclusive, and anti‑racist practices as they relate to student success, with an awareness of student equity gaps.
  • Participate in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti‑racism to center pedagogy.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications

1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

2. Earned Master’s Degree or higher in Chemistry from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT;

OR

Earned Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry from an accredited institution AND earned Master’s Degree or higher in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Physics, Physics, Molecular Biology, or Geochemistry from an accredited institution; OR THE EQUIVALENT;

OR

Hold a fully‑satisfied LIFE California Community College Instructor Credential in Chemistry (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1, 1990).
