San Diego Miramar College is a Minority Serving Institution committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Assistant Professor will teach biotechnology lectures and laboratory courses, participate in departmental activities, and mentor students.
Responsibilities- Teach biotechnology lecture and lab courses at the college level.
- Participate in biology department meetings and committees.
- Assist with curriculum revision and course/program assessments.
- Collaborate with college staff and industry professionals.
- Maintain office hours and provide academic advising to students.
- Mentor students in professional development and industry networking.
- Build collegial relationships with stakeholders and promote student career pathways.
- Adhere to district policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Master’s degree in any biological science.
- OR Bachelor’s degree in a biological science with a Master’s in biochemistry, biophysics, or marine science.
- OR equivalent education and experience.
- Relevant upper‑division or graduate coursework in biological sciences with a biotechnology focus.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in biotechnology and introductory biology courses.
- Experience developing and evaluating curricula, laboratory materials, and instructional technologies.
- Strong mentoring and student‑career‑development skills.
- Proficiency in collaborative departmental governance and educational assessment.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Commitment to cultural competency and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
