HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR MISSION
The Education Program Aide provides program-level support in collaboration with other team members to facilitate the learning of diverse program audiences. Program Aides report to the Education Experience Supervisor.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Collaborates with team members, uses inclusive practices, and provides one-one-one guidance to support program participants toward achieving program objectives.
  • Provides operational support for the Education and Premium Experience programs, including but not limited to scanning program tickets, facilitating program check-in and transporting guests.
  • Operates organization vehicles on and off Zoo grounds, including electric golf carts, cars and SUVs.
  • Prepares and maintains program materials.
  • Operates program technology, including but not limited to audio/visual equipment, two-way radios, computers, walking tour listening devices, and ticket scanners.
  • Participates in monitoring and evaluation of programs by supporting implementation of essential program components and measurement tools, collecting data, and providing feedback for program refinement. Contribute to a culture of feedback by providing and receiving constructive feedback to support performance improvement.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The San Diego Zoo is seeking enthusiastic team members who will support a camp team to create a fun, welcoming and safe environment for all campers. You will collaborate with your camp team to prepare and provide engaging, hands-on experiences such as activities, games, and Zoo walks for campers entering grades K-9th, spending a majority of the camp day outdoors. You will assist Educator Guides with camper management, including keeping campers safe, helping campers form bonds with others, and ensuring all campers feel like they belong.

There will be growth opportunities, if interested, as the summer progresses to lead camp activities or Zoo walks. This position requires full participation one training sessions in early-May and availability to work the length of team training and camp from June 1 – August 10, Monday through Friday

JOB EXPERIENCE

  • Prior experience in educational, zoo/aquarium/museum or informal learning setting, preferred.
  • Interest in working with children, required.
  • Prior experience working with children, preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
