Position Summary

The Academic Scheduling Lead Analyst plays a critical role at the intersection of data, people, and campus operations, shaping the academic experience for more than 30,000 students and 1,700 faculty. The analyst leads complex academic and event scheduling efforts that support daily instruction and the university’s most high‑profile events, including Commencement, Athletics, and Orientation.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and support the Academic Scheduling Unit, providing training, guidance, and operational oversight for academic and event scheduling.
  • Serve as the campus liaison and system expert for my.

    SDSU scheduling, curriculum and reporting tools, and the Astra room scheduling system.
  • Plan and produce the official online class schedules for Fall, Spring, and Summer terms, serving 30,000+ students and 1,700 faculty.
  • Use real‑time data and analysis to optimize classroom assignments during high‑demand registration periods.
  • Coordinate scheduling for campus‑shared spaces supporting academic activities, exams, athletics, student programs, and major university events such as Commencement.

Position Information
  • Full‑time (1.0 time‑base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position.
  • Exempt under FLSA and eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard work hours:
    Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., with possible variation for operational needs.
  • Eligible for telecommuting up to 2 days per week, following a required on‑site training period.
Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business, information systems, or related field and at least 5 years of experience in academic scheduling, enrollment management, or a comparable administrative role. Knowledge of university scheduling systems, data analysis, and cross‑functional collaboration required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to build relationships across the university.
  • Deep knowledge of internal university policy, procedures, and infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in academic and event scheduling best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with diverse groups.
  • Understanding of the connection between teaching schedules and space utilization.
Licenses/Certifications Required

Valid California Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 10 days of hire.
