Pay Information- Class 1, Step C – Class 6, Step C ($6,933.44– $8,849.03) per month based on the 2024 AFT – College Faculty Tenured-Tenure Track Faculty Salary Schedule. Initial salary placement is commensurate with required education and related teaching experience as outlined in section A2.1 of the AFT Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Salary negotiation is not allowed.
- Annual salaries will be recalculated for service less than a full academic year based on Education Code 87815; any required adjustment will be made within the first pay period.
- Travel reimbursement for interviewees traveling more than 200 miles, one-way, may be paid according to geographic location (see SDCCD Travel Stipend Policy, Rev 7/14/2011).
- Typically, Assistant Professors earn tenure after 4 years and promote to Associate Professor.

QualificationsThe District encourages all applicants who meet the minimum qualifications to apply. Additional qualifications preferred include the following:
- Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and related classroom strategies.
- Experience or knowledge working with faculty, staff, and students from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including varying academic preparation and abilities.
- Cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of community college students and staff.
- Experience with shared/participatory governance.
- Experience creating and maintaining professional, community, and industry partnerships, including advisory boards.
- Experience developing industry contacts and assessing/placing students in related jobs.
- Experience in creating a conducive learning environment, managing class time, and providing feedback in the classroom.
- Proficiency in designing and teaching child development courses, in various modalities including HyFlex, hybrid, and online (synchronous and asynchronous).
- Ability to work collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators; willingness to participate in departmental and campus activities.
- Commitment to remaining current in the discipline and maintaining program excellence.
- Experience serving as a Child Development Center Director, Manager, and/or Supervisor.
- Knowledge and experience with Title 22 State Licensing, Title 5 regulations, and NAEYC Accreditation.
Foreign Degree: Applicants with foreign degrees must have coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of NACES or ACEI. A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with the online application.
