Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit) – San Diego Community College District

Posting Details: This is an adjunct/part-time pool for potential assignments across the college districts for City, Mesa, and Miramar campuses and continuing education centers. Applications are reviewed for the adjunct pool; there may be no immediate openings. Applicants will be contacted if qualifications match needs. Applications are purged approximately one year after submission. A re-application is required to remain in the pool.

Major Responsibilities

• Primary duties related to curriculum and teaching; assignments may include lecture and lab, as determined by the department. Adjunct instructional faculty are expected to be available to students outside of class.
• Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
• Maintain professional conduct and ethics, and stay current in subject matter areas.
• Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
• Teach all scheduled classes and maintain accurate records.
• Create and maintain a teaching and learning environment that encourages free discussion of ideas, interests, and issues.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Any Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR
• Any Associate degree AND six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR
• The equivalent.

AND,

• Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.

Desired Qualifications

License in Cosmetology OR Esthetics Equivalency

Licenses/Certificates/Credentials

California Community College Instructor Credential in Cosmetology & Barbering (valid for life)

Work Conditions

Working conditions vary by assignment. Selected candidate must complete the following prior to employment:

• Submit official college transcripts as stated on application.
• Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (valid for four years).
• Have fingerprints taken by Live Scan at district expense (clearance required before first day).
• Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
