The starting salary range for this position is $24.00 - 27.00 per hour depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable.

FUNCTION OF THE UNIT

Academy for Professional Excellence, a project of the SDSU School of Social Work, was established in 1996 to revolutionize the way people work and promote healthier communities. The Academy delivers approximately 50,000 learning experiences annually to health and human service and justice system professionals, with seven programs, three divisions, and over 100 staff. The mission is to provide exceptional learning and development experiences for transformation of individuals, organizations, and communities.

The Academy emphasizes culturally responsive and recovery-oriented practices and fosters well-being and healing.

As a member of the Academy team you will be engaging in communal development of heart, mind, and practice, fostering culturally responsive practices to promote well-being and healthy relationships.

Child Welfare Development Services (CWDS) provides workforce development, organizational support, technical assistance and capacity building for public child welfare staff in Southern California counties, including coaching, classroom training, eLearning, and evaluation services. Workforce development serves new social workers, the existing workforce, supervisors, managers, executive leadership, and partners working with child welfare agencies.

The Tribal STAR (Successful Transitions for Adult Readiness) Program provides interdisciplinary training and technical assistance to build collaborative partnerships that improve outcomes for tribal foster youth and families and ensure ICWA compliance. Tribal STAR targets county and tribal child welfare workers and leaders and operates under CWDS.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Under the general direction of the Tribal STAR Community Relations Coordinator, the Administrative Coordinator provides administrative support for the Tribal STAR Program, including training operations and logistics. This includes supporting in-person and virtual trainings, assisting trainers and participants, tracking registration and attendance, data entry, and preparing training materials. The Administrative Coordinator also supports planning and execution of Tribal STAR events, including marketing distribution and general administrative tasks.

The role supports stakeholder relationships and cultural responsiveness and contributes to program growth.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

This is a 40-hour per week, hybrid position with remote flexibility, typically working Monday–Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is based on contract funding subject to annual renewal. The position may require occasional overnight travel and work outside normal hours, including weekends and evenings if needed. The incumbent must reside in California and live within a commutable distance from the worksite.

Positions are typically assigned to the Riverside or San Diego office for on-site work. Some duties involve work with sensitive/traumatic topics related to child abuse, elder abuse, disabilities, mental health, substance use, or racism.
