San Diego Miramar College invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Child Development Contract Faculty. The College is a student‑ready institution committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and is recruiting for a 10‑month, 1.0 FTE contract instructor who will support our Child Development Center and Lab School.

Responsibilities- Provide support to ensure compliance with Title 22 State Licensing Title 5 regulations and maintain NAEYC accreditation.
- Teach college‑level lecture and laboratory courses in child development topics using traditional, HyFlex, hybrid, and fully online modalities.
- Plan, develop, implement, and assess courses, including technical and professional training for transfer to 4‑year institutions.
- Advise students in education and career development, including state of California child‑development permits.
- Collaborate with department and interdisciplinary faculty on curriculum development and assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Maintain currency in the child‑development discipline and incorporate industry trends and technology innovations into curricula.
- Participate in departmental functions, program review, faculty development, and service on college‑wide committees.
- Collaborate with industry, community, and professional organizations on curriculum, partnership development, and labor‑market needs.
- Administer courses in the Child Development Center and Lab School and, when applicable, serve as Faculty Director.
- Master’s degree in child development, early childhood education, human development, or a related field with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology.
- OR Bachelor’s degree in the above areas plus a Master’s in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, or family life studies.
- Equivalent education and experience.
- Knowledge of DEI principles and related classroom strategies.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and faculty of varied socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Demonstrated experience with shared/participatory governance and partnership development.
- Proficiency in designing and teaching child‑development courses in multiple modalities, including HyFlex, hybrid, and online.
- Experience with Title 22 State Licensing Title 5 regulations and NAEYC accreditation.
- Prior experience as a Child Development Center Director, Manager, or Supervisor.

Pay:
Class 1, Step C – Class 6, Step C ($6,933.44–$8,849.03) per month, based on the 2024 AFT – College Faculty Tenured‑Tenure Track Faculty Salary Schedule

Job Duration: 10 months; FTE: 1.0. Contract renewal available for up to one additional year.
