DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health Sciences encompasses UC San Diego Health, the region's only academic health system; UC San Diego School of Medicine, one of the nation's top research‑intensive medical schools;
Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences; and the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science. Its mission is to deliver outstanding patient care through commitment to the community, groundbreaking research, and inspired teaching.

The division of Medical Education within the UC San Diego School of Medicine supports the education, training, and co‑curricular activities of approximately 560 medical students, 90 physician‑assistant students, 1000 residents and fellows, and faculty and healthcare providers.

Under the supervision of the Pathways Office, this position reports to the Director of Pathways. The Pathways Office designs, implements, and evaluates a portfolio of health pathways projects including California Medicine Scholars Programs (CMSP), Program for Underrepresented in Medicine (PUMA), LMSA Premed Scholars Programs (LPSP), Health Science Center of Excellence Scholars (HS COE Scholars), and the National Board of Medical Education (NBME) evaluation of Pathways grant.

The Pathways Coordinator is accountable for supporting and guiding the development of all Pathways programming, curriculum, activities offered to students, and training opportunities that reflect the mission of the Pathways Office. Responsibilities include monitoring student development and academic success; coordinating events and workshops; managing meetings; leading CMSP cornerstone events (Annual Orientation, Research Symposium, Region X Community College Conference); supporting program evaluation;

and developing additional student‑support services. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a related area plus two years of related experience/training.
  • Basic knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements; basic knowledge of health professions education industry.
  • Basic knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research; skills in developing and implementing processes and systems; familiarity with program implications.
  • Communication skills: verbal, written, active listening; service oriented and responsive to questions and requests; professional, resourceful, courteous interaction.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to develop working relationships within the department and with learners.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical skills and attention to detail; ability to manage complex faculty calendars and schedules with precision.
  • Knowledge of educational technology and systems; ability to troubleshoot and triage related technology issues.
  • Investigative, data analysis, and reporting skills; ability to generate, check, correct, and submit accurate reports; experience with data entry, maintenance, extraction, and analysis in electronic systems.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and exercise good judgment and discretion with sensitive or highly confidential information.
  • Knowledge of trends and issues affecting low‑income, first‑generation college, underrepresented, disadvantaged, physically challenged, and under‑prepared students in higher education.
  • Ability to interface and coordinate with faculty, staff, and community partners around student development and needs; self‑motivated, high‑energy self‑starter.
