Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (College Credit)

Major Responsibilities- Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
- Teach all scheduled lecture and lab classes.
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to professional standards of conduct and ethics.
- Stay current with subject‑matter knowledge and maintain expertise in commercial music.
- Be available to students outside of class time as required.
- Create and maintain an environment that encourages free discussion and fosters learning.
- Any bachelor’s degree AND at least two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR
- Any associate degree AND at least six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the area of assignment; OR
- The equivalent of the above credentials.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.
- California Community College Instructor Credential in Commercial Music (valid for life).
- Additional or higher degrees that match the role’s requirements.
- Foreign degree holders whose coursework has been evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or the Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, Inc. (ACEI).
- Completion of the Request for Equivalency Form if an exact degree is not yet obtained.
- Submit official college transcripts.
- Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every 4 years).
- Undergo a Live Scan fingerprint clearance prior to the first day of employment.
- Present original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.
Salary is based on the Adjunct College Salary Schedule and is contingent upon receipt of official transcripts or foreign degree evaluations. Initial placement is at the first eligible class and step until documentation is complete.

The San Diego Community College District accepts applications for adjunct positions on a continuous basis. If you qualify, your application will be added to the adjunct pool for possible assignments in the fall, spring, and/or summer semesters of the academic year. Applications are purged approximately one year after submission, at which time recruiters will contact applicants to renew their application if desired.
