Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit)

Part‑time/temporary faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving educational goals. Assignments may include a combination of day, evening, weekend, and/or off‑campus classes. Faculty should reside within commuting distance to San Diego.
NOTE:
The San Diego Community College District accepts applications for adjunct (part‑time/substitute) positions for our three college campuses (City, Mesa, Miramar) and various continuing education centers on a continuous basis. If you meet the required minimum qualifications, your application will be included in the adjunct pool for possible assignments in the fall, spring, and/or summer semesters of the academic year. Hiring departments will contact you directly should you possess the qualifications they are seeking.
Applications are purged approximately one year from submittal.
Initial salary placement will be at the first class/step until official transcripts have been submitted. Salary placement and schedule are pending receipt of official transcripts or foreign degree evaluations. You may view the current salary schedule by clicking here.
Major Responsibilities- Provide instruction in lecture and lab classes as determined by the department.
- Be available to students outside of class.
- Maintain professional conduct and ethics.
- Stay current in subject matter expertise.
- Teach all scheduled classes and maintain accurate records.
- Create an environment encouraging discussion of ideas and issues.
- Degree(s) from regionally accredited institutions.
- Either a bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional experience related to the area of assignment; or an associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience; or equivalent.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
- Submit official college transcripts.
- Provide a certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every four years).
- Have fingerprints taken by a live‑scan computer.
- Present original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.
