OPTICAL TECHNICIAN TRAINING:
Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (non-credit)
San Diego Community College District – District Wide location. Position Type:
Adjunct.
Pay information contingent upon receipt of official transcripts and verifications of prior work experience.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Applicants will be included in the adjunct pool for possible assignments in upcoming semesters.
Major Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver instruction in lecture and lab settings per curriculum and course outlines.
- Maintain professional standards of conduct, ethics, and current knowledge in the subject area.
- Be available to students outside class hours.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of instructional activities.
- Foster a learning environment encouraging free discussion of ideas.
- Teach all scheduled classes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and at least two years of occupational experience related to the course content, or
- Associate degree and at least six years of occupational experience related to the course content, or
- Full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter, or equivalent.
Desired Qualifications
- Certification by the American Board of Opticianry or equivalent.
- Certification by the National Contact Lens Examiners or equivalent.
Licenses / Certifications / Credentials
- Full‑time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter, if possessed.

Special Instructions to Applicants
- Submit official college transcripts.
- Provide a current Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam (renewed every four years).
- Complete a Live Scan fingerprinting at district expense; clearance required prior to first day.
- Present original documents proving eligibility to work in the United States.

Employees may be transferred to any site at the Chancellor’s discretion.
