Position DescriptionThe Global Health Program (GHP) at UC San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity. GHP invites applicants for a temporary, non‑tenure‑track lecturer (Unit 18) to teach GHP courses during the upcoming academic year.
GHP is looking for lecturers with demonstrated teaching experience in related disciplines—medical anthropology, public health, global health, epidemiology, and medical social sciences. Courses may be at the graduate or undergraduate level and are in the global health-related topic area.
The position is expected to be in‑person and classes will be held on the UC San Diego Campus.
Responsibilities- Teach assigned courses according to the scheduled class timetable.
- Develop syllabi, pedagogically effective assignments, lecture slides, lesson plans, exams, and other course materials, as needed outside of class time.
- Provide feedback on student assignments and maintain regular office hours.
- Fulfill the academic responsibilities required by Article 3 of the current UC‑AFT MOU bargaining agreement.
- Potentially provide instruction and guidance to teaching assistants, instructional assistants, and readers.

QualificationsBasic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates must be ABD or hold a doctorate degree (PhD, MD, ScD/DSc, Ed. D, MD). They must have professional or teaching experience in medical anthropology, public health, global health, epidemiology, or a medical social science.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
Doctorate degree (PhD, MD, ScD/DSc, Ed. D, MD).
Preferred qualifications
- PhD with at least 1 year of teaching or mentoring experience.
- PhD with at least 3 years of professional experience in the fields of medical anthropology, public health, global health, epidemiology, or a medical social science.
