OB Health Instructor - 136441 at UC San Diego Health

This position is on-site, with variable hours and locations based on business needs. It is a Limited Appointment and not remote. The position will remain open until filled.

• Under the general supervision of the program manager, provide education and implement activities for various areas in the Childbirth Education Program.
• Independently manage the class and course; provide education in the area of expertise.
• Educate on program options, attend meetings as required, and provide recommendations to the program manager for improvements.
• Perform other related duties as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
• Certified Child Birth Educator.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to obtain BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Three (3) or more years of relevant experience.
• Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience.
• Distance Teaching Proficiency (Zoom).
• Thorough knowledge of the subject matter and field; highly skilled in development and delivery of clinical instruction or health education programs and services.
• Thorough knowledge of program design and delivery; highly effective interpersonal skills to lead diverse student/learner groups; effective organizational skills.
• Highly effective communication skills.
• Ability to evaluate and assess instruction based on defined success indicators.
• Comfort and effectiveness in public speaking; knowledge of adult learning theory, customer service, and strong interpersonal and group skills.
• Demonstrates sound judgement and problem-solving skills.

• Doula, CLE or IBCLC.
• Certified Lactation Educator.
• First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor.
• Newborn care experience.

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

The compensation for this position will be contracted to be paid per period of instruction. Pay scale and annual pay range are provided in the posting; specifics may vary by experience, licensure, and certifications.

If employed by the University of California, you will be required to comply with the Policy on Vaccination Programs; additional public health directives may apply. If applicable, life-support certifications must include hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment.
