Overview
UC San Diego Health is actively recruiting an Occupational Medicine Physician for our Ambulatory Care clinics. This is a contract position with the possibility of extension. The physician will provide prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses, ensure employee health and safety through clinical care and workplace assessments, and collaborate with employers and other healthcare professionals. Workstations will be shared between Chancellor Park (La Jolla) and Downtown San Diego locations.
Appointment type is Contract and the appointment percent is 100%.
Location:
La Jolla with coverage at Downtown San Diego locations. Salary range: $280,000 – $300,000 per year.

The Occupational Medicine Physician is responsible for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of work-related injuries and illnesses. This role ensures the health and safety of employees through clinical care, workplace assessments, and collaboration with employers and other healthcare professionals.
Minimum Qualifications- MD or DO degree
- Current California Medical License, or ability and commitment to obtain license prior to start date
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience, including experience in an occupational health clinic setting
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in occupational medicine (preferred); internal, family, or emergency medicine considered
- DOT Certification
- Must be able to obtain UCSD Medical Staff privileges and maintain during employment
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical
Pay Transparency — Annual Full Pay Range and hourly range will reflect appointment percentage and applicable pay scales. The posted pay range may be broader than actual pay depending on internal equity, budget, and bargaining agreements.
Additional InformationIf employed by the University of California, vaccination requirements may apply and can be amended. Some life-support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) require hands-on practice and in-person skills assessment. UC San Diego Health is the only academic health system in the San Diego region.
