Join us to explore steam bending for creating functional objects like trays, mirror frames, small tables, and wall shelves. In this workshop, you will learn essential steam-bending techniques, engage in creative design sessions, and build your own prototype of a daily-use item. From sketching to creating a final project, this workshop values teamwork. It is ideal for those looking to improve their woodworking skills and ignite creativity through a design-centered approach.

Yuri Kobayashi (she/her), originally from Japan, is a Maine-based sculptor and furniture maker. She received a BA in Architectural Design from Musashino Art University in Japan, a Woodworking certificate from Shinrin Takumi Juku in Japan, and an MFA from San Diego State University, CA . As an instructor and Lead Fellow at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, Konatashi combines traditional techniques with her sense of wonder to craft compelling sculptures and furniture.
Her work has earned recognition through residencies, exhibitions, and publications.
