Job Description & How to Apply Below

FULL TIME - 90 DAY CONTRACT / SAN DIEGO, CA

We're Raindrop, a creative agency built for brands that want to stand out and create marketing that people love. We're scrappy, sharp, and slightly obsessive (peep our prop closet). From breakout DTC legends like Dr. Squatch to household names like Native, we help brands grow, scale, and create IMPACT. Our team punches above its weight because we hire people who care.

About the craft, about our clients, about each other, and about making things we're proud of.

We live by our three values of PARTNER GENEROUSLY, OWN YOUR IMPACT, and MAKE IT BETTER, and they influence everything we do.

We're looking for a visionary Art Director to lead the creative visual direction across campaigns, branded content, and productions. This role bridges creativity and execution to ensure every project delivers high-quality, visually compelling work that reflects our clients' brands and drives engagement.

You’ll collaborate closely with copywriters, designers, producers, and strategists to develop integrated campaigns, from concept to delivery, that move audiences and make brands unforgettable.

THE WORK
  • Dream up and define the visual world for campaigns, videos, and digital content—setting the look, feel, and vibe from first spark to final frame
  • Turn creative briefs into bold visual concepts, storyboards, and pitch-ready ideas that bring the strategy to life
  • Ideate campaign concepts that are rooted in brand strategy but feel fresh, unexpected, and culturally relevant
  • Build mood boards and decks that clearly communicate tone, style, and creative direction
  • Seamlessly blend photography, illustration, typography, and motion into cohesive, compelling visual stories
  • Craft visual narratives that translate across platforms and touchpoints, from big screens to small scrolls
  • Partner closely with copy, strategy, design, and production to create scroll-stopping intros, shots, and sequences
  • Spot opportunities to elevate scripts visually—punching up moments, pacing, and impact
  • Flag potential on‑set or post‑production challenges early and propose smart, creative solutions during pre‑production
  • Identify when scripts or scenes may stretch beyond scope and help shape alternatives that protect the idea and the budget
  • Bring a strong understanding of the production process and help guide production design, look, and execution
  • Stay plugged into trends across design, film, social, and emerging tech, using them to push the work forward—not just follow the feed
Requirements
  • 4-5 years of experience in a creative agency that incorporates production
  • Has a proven portfolio showcasing campaigns, branded content, or visual storytelling across digital, print, and video
  • Advanced design principles (layout, composition, color theory, typography)
  • Strong presentation/ Communication skills
  • Present ideas clearly to internal stakeholders and clients, championing the creative vision
  • Actively uses AI prompting to improve workflows and processes
  • Advanced ability in:
    • Photoshop (masking, retouching)
    • Illustrator
    • In Design
    • Figma/ Google Slides
    • Sketch Up
  • Experience with software like Click Up, Everhour, G Suite, Dropbox
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to shifting priorities
  • Experience directing photoshoots, video sets, or post‑production
Benefits
  • $65,000 - 70,000 DEO
  • 401(k) plan to invest in your future
  • New Hire stipend to support flexible working arrangements
  • Accrued sick leave
  • Access to the studio in San Diego
