Fire Plans Examiner​/Inspector

Join Interwest Consulting Group as a Fire Plans Examiner / Inspector in San Diego. This hybrid role blends office review and field inspections.

• Review construction documents, shop drawings, and specifications for compliance with fire and building codes.
• Assess plans for fire life safety systems (alarm, sprinkler, smoke control, egress, occupancy).
• Identify deficiencies, issue correction notices, and record comments in electronic permitting systems.
• Conduct field inspections to verify construction compliance and maintain communication with contractors, designers, and authorities.

• 1–3 years experience in fire prevention, construction, or a closely related field.
• Certification such as Fire Plans Examiner or Fire Inspector I through ICC.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

• Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and lifting up to 25–50 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders or scaffolding to inspect roofs, attics, and confined spaces.
• Effective vision and hearing for safety inspection.

Salary Range: $35/hr – $50/hr benefits include health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid holidays, paid time off, matching 401(k), wellness programs.
