Overview

Under the direction of the instructors assigned to a Child Development Center, the Child Development Instructional Assistant assists in directing and implementing a daily child learning program involving cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical development in the Child Development Program; participates in planning and parent activities as assigned.

Major Responsibilities
  • Assist in directing and implementing a daily child learning program for preschool children, focusing on cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical development.
  • Participate in planning and conducting parent activities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by sufficient coursework and experience to obtain the Children’s Center Permit and one year of experience working with preschool children in a Child Development Program environment.
  • Knowledge of current concepts in Early Childhood Education, health, safety, nutrition requirements of preschool children, child growth and development, observation and recording of child behavior, and oral and written communication skills.
