What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
  • Assist in securing funding for research, education, and other sponsored projects
  • Enhance proposal development and ensure compliance with sponsor guidelines and university policies
  • Create and revise proposal budgets while advising faculty on submission procedures
  • Facilitate communications with funding agencies and manage the electronic submission of proposals
  • Stay updated on best practices in research administration to support faculty effectively
What is Required (Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • For SRD Specialist II:
    One year of related work experience in research administration, particularly in pre- or post-award processes
  • For SRD Specialist III:
    Four years of related work experience in research administration with a focus on pre/post-award activities
  • Proficiency in current systems, software, and Excel, along with strong budget development skills
  • Exceptional problem‑solving skills and the ability to foster effective collaboration
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Experience using electronic research administration and submission systems
  • Familiarity with SDSU Research Foundation policies and procedures
  • Experience in Pre‑Award processes
  • Knowledge of Info Ed, Banner, Etrieve, or other related electronic systems
  • Strong understanding of faculty projects and the ability to resolve complex issues
