Overview
Use your store keeping best practice methods of inventory control and maintaining automated records to work for the largest local agency in San Diego. We're hiring for an experienced STOREKEEPER to join our team! This position is eligible for appointment at STEP 1, $49,067.20. An hourly premium is provided for this assignment, in addition to the base wage.
FUTURE SALARY INCREASE
June 2026 – 5.27% increase to base pay (3.5% Across-the-Board + 1.77% Market Adjustment)
June 2027 – 4.77% increase to base pay (3% Across-the-Board + 1.77% Market Adjustment)
ResponsibilitiesABOUT THE POSITION:
Storekeepers work in various departments throughout the County of San Diego. We are currently looking for dedicated individuals to fill a Storekeeper position in the Sheriff’s Office
. Storekeepers play a key role in ensuring essential supplies are properly managed across various locations, including commissaries, storerooms, warehouses, and detention facilities. This role will oversee the planning, coordination, and organization of inventory—handling everything from ordering and receiving to storing and distributing a diverse range of items.
Ideal candidates will have work experience handling a high volume of inventory in a large storeroom or warehouse while using efficient safety storeroom practices.

Minimum Qualifications- Two (2) years of store keeping or warehouse experience consisting of ordering, receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, materials, and equipment; OR
- Eighteen (18) months of experience as a Stock Clerk with the County of San Diego.
- Note:
Depending on assignment, select positions may require possession of a valid Certified Forklift Operator's license from a recognized agency or organization within thirty (30) days after appointment. Experience in providing first line or full supervision over employees responsible for performing store keeping work is desirable.
Work primarily takes place indoors within an office or storeroom environment or warehouse environment (separate building). Work involves frequent travel to various locations within the County to pick up or deliver items. Work involves occasional exposure to heights, loud machine noises, unpleasant odors, gaseous fumes, dust, debris, and varying temperatures. When assigned to the Probation or Sheriff's Department, work involves frequent interaction with juvenile or adult incarcerated individuals who may be uncooperative, upset, hostile, and potentially violent.
Conditionof Employment
As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position.
