Overview of 1971 Buick Riviera For Sale by Owner

In the Sixties, everyone wanted to get in on the Personal Luxury Car mania. Buick’s contender was aptly named the Riviera, which is Italian for coastline. The first-generation Riviera was introduced to the public in 1963, and the model would continue until 1999, spanning eight generations. Today’s 1971 Buick Riviera comes from the third generation, and has got some modern upgrades under its belt.

The current owner of this San Diego-based car also reports that all receipts and invoices are available with the sale.

Exterior and Interior

Sporting a maroon paint coat, this 1971 Buick Riviera looks fantastic. No doubt you’ll have noticed the car’s rear window design, with its wrap-around styling that’s reminiscent of the second-generation Chevy Corvette. Long, low and broad, this personal luxury car comes with a contrasting white roof, as two-tone themes were quite popular at the time. It’s definitely an automobile that will attract some attention at a car show, or even while you park it at the local mall or hypermarket.

The interior of this 1971 Buick Riviera has reportedly been redone, with cream colored vinyl upholstered seating for four adults to travel in comfort. As you’d expect from a Seventies luxury car, there’s some wood trim, and the seats are of the sink-in variety. The car also features a custom audio system, controlled via a Kenwood head unit with CD player, AUX and USB inputs.

Beneath this lies a control panel for the car’s climate control system. We’re not sure if the air conditioning works, so that remains to be checked. We’re also told that there’s no temperature gauge, but that’s easily rectified. You’ll also get plenty of trunk space, as a personal luxury car needs to carry a great deal of luggage to satisfy its occupants needs across longer trips.

Engine

Powering this 1971 Buick Riviera is a modern LS V8 that displaces 5.3 liters and powers the rear axle through a 4-speed automatic gearbox. The engine uses fuel injection for reliable cold starts and better fuel efficiency. We’re also told that the car has its stock suspension system, and a Magnaflow exhaust for a nicer V8 soundtrack.

By 1965, the Buick Riviera had firmly established itself as one of the most striking American personal luxury coupes of its time. Combining Bill Mitchell’s sharp styling with Buick’s refined powertrains, the Riviera delivered both presence and performance in equal measure. This example, a 1965…
