SDSU is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Department Assistant Coordinator to serve as the front‑line contact for a busy academic department. This role supports both administrative and instructional needs, ensuring efficient daily operations, faculty support, and student engagement.
Key Responsibilities- Front‑desk reception, phone and email communications, mail distribution, office equipment training, key distribution, procurement and support for departmental events and other administrative tasks.
- Assist students with course and scheduling inquiries; support faculty with instructional materials, document preparation and file management; aid graduate advisors and help build semester course schedules.
- High‑school diploma or equivalent combined with several years of related office work experience.
- Strong knowledge of standard office procedures, English grammar, spelling and punctuation, with clear oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite; experience working in an office setting.
- Scheduling experience preferred.
- Ability to handle a broad range of interpersonal contacts with students, faculty, and staff from under‑represented groups.
Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of standard office procedures and practices, the ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures, and a thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Proficiency with new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
