Position: Corporate Legal Assistant
Location: San Diego
Job DescriptionThe Legal Assistant will report to the Senior Corporate Counsel and perform various tasks related to the legal and compliance team, corporate governance, and administrative support. We are looking for a self-motivated Legal Assistant to enhance the productivity of the department and provide exceptional support to the team.
Responsibilities- Assist with Company transactions by handling all signatures, consents, officer certificates, contracts, and incumbency documents; communicate effectively with outside counsel and opposing counsel as needed.
- Edit and prepare for execution NDAs, various contracts, amendments, assignments, certificates and terminations; track and manage all inbound and outbound agreements for Goal and its subsidiaries via the legal contract management system.
- High level of skill in written English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation with the ability to maintain rigorous and consistent formatting styles across a variety of document types.
- Assist with Company litigation by coordinating the internal collection of information pertinent to the litigation, scheduling follow ups and meetings, and communicating with outside counsel.
- Facilitate the meeting of deadlines by keeping agendas and providing timely reminders; take notes during meetings and assist management with scheduling.
- Strong organizational and follow-through skills, orderly and detail-oriented with ability to prioritize work with accuracy and efficiency while staying focused and calm under pressure.
- Maintain contract lifecycle management system and other file systems thoroughly and accurately for all company agreements, litigation, and corporate filings.
- Demonstrates proficiency with technology, including but not limited to Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, Teams, and social media.
- Ability to work independently, take responsibility, take initiative, problem-solve using sound judgment, and properly handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Assist in and work with the Legal team to improve operational efficiencies and effectiveness; legal liaison within the organization.
- Perform ad-hoc projects and tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Associate degree in Business Administration or related field, Paralegal or Legal Assistant Certification, or equivalent experience
- Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
- Understanding of advanced business planning and regulatory issues within consumer lending
- Able to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues
- Summarize documents, compose communications to clients or other parties
- Exceptional written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills and demonstrated engagement in the community
- Occasional travel
- Advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) skills: 5 years (Required)
- Legal Secretary, Assistant or Paralegal: 3+ years
- Notary certification
- $71,000 - $76,000
