The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for performing general accounting tasks (multi‑company) in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”) and company policies. Work may include month end close, posting and reconciling general ledger accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, payroll, banking, inter‑company transactions, account reconciliations, clinical investigator payments and other accounting responsibilities as assigned.
Your Main Responsibilities andDuties Include:
- Bi‑weekly payroll (multi‑state); preparation and entry of payroll journal entries and monthly reconciliation and allocation of employee benefits.
- Billing: track all time and expense on
assigned project workbooks, verify contracts and work orders, interact with clinical groups to ensure billable activities are captured, ensure billing reflects activities performed during the month, track all activity to assigned project budgets - Accounts receivable; code and enter assigned monthly billing and send with all supporting documentation, track payments and follow‑up on collections.
- Enter invoices into accounting system and update assigned billing workbooks for investigators and other out‑of‑pocket expenses.
- Clinical study tracking: accrue revenues and associated expenses for assigned clinical study activities performed
- Accounts payable; verify, code, enter, obtain approvals and process for payment in a timely manner.
- Maintain accounts payable files.
- Implementation and maintenance of expense reporting through Concur.
- General ledger accounting: generate and input all journal entries in compliance with GAAP, maintain appropriate supporting documentation and reconcile all accounts.
- Process intercompany transactions.
- Fixed assets; administration, tracking, depreciation and reconciliation.
- Calculate and track all payments to investigator sites.
- Maintain Sunshine Act reporting.
- Prepare and file property and sales and use tax returns.
- Maintain petty cash.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- You will have a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
- You will have a minimum of six (6) years of related experience.
- You should have biotechnology/CRO experience. While not required, it is preferred.
- You will have the ability to communicate well, both orally and written.
- You will possess the knowledge of accounting principles, practices, procedures and internal controls.
- You must have integrated accounting software experience.
- You should be proficient in Quick Books and ADP. While not required, it is preferred.
- You must have advanced proficiency in Excel.
- You must have public accounting or experience with third‑party auditing.
- You should be well organized with ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.
- You should be versatile, flexible and be willing to work within constantly changing priorities.
The most likely starting base pay range for this position is $85,000 to $118,000 per year. Several factors, such as experience, tenure, skills, and business needs will determine an individual’s exact level of compensation. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
