The hiring pay range for Events Accountant: $70,304 - $78,000 annual salary.
SummaryThe Events Accountant is responsible for all aspects of event related accounting for San Diego Theatres events. This includes settlement with promoter at the time of the event, as well as all financial aspects pre- and post-event settlement set up and follow through. The Events Accountant will work independently with minimal instruction while relying on pre-established guidelines, experience and excellent judgement to perform the functions of the job properly.
This position reports to the Director of Finance.
- Performs accounting functions as assigned, including, but not limited to preparing journal entries, reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, and preparation of schedules to support financials.
- Maintains and balances subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolving discrepancies and providing documentation.
- Assists with audits by collecting data, analyzing information and preparing schedules.
- Communicates with all departments, with respect to event details, settlements, invoices, expenses, and other accounting related items.
- Maintains an organized filing system for events, month end, revenue reports, and vendor payments.
- Maintains event records in both accounting system (Sage Intaact) and event management system (Momentus Elite).
- Serves as back up and regularly supports accounts payable and payroll functions.

- Conducts audits of multiple revenue streams, researches variances, and records activity in the general ledger.
- Execute show settlement related needs, pre- and post-event; including extensive communication with internal Operations team and show promoter, settlement status tracking, preparing wire schedules and wire requests, and actively participating on event‑related planning teams.
- Perform financial settlement of events. This includes settlement of the show at event time with external partner/promoter. Work schedule will regularly require evenings, weekends, and holidays based upon event schedule and operational needs.
- Prepares financials, profitability reports and projections based on event data.
- Record and track all show deposits and show liability accounts.
- Prepare invoices and manage show related receivables.
- Reconcile Ticketmaster sales activity and funds transfer.
- Track and report all applicable tax with holdings for talent.
- Prepare music license fee submissions.
- Track and report various event statistics. Assist in preparing show profitability analyses.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree (B.
A.) from a four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred; and one to three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in events or venue management industries a plus.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
