Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join a dynamic healthcare team in San Diego, California. As part of this contract position, you will play a vital role in managing high-volume invoice processing and ensuring timely payments to vendors. This opportunity is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented and thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

- Process and match a high volume of invoices, coding and batching up to 600 invoices monthly.

- Collaborate with a team of seven to divide vendor accounts alphabetically and manage assigned vendors efficiently.

- Communicate with vendors to address discrepancies, resolve payment issues, and optimize discounts.

- Review invoices to ensure correct coding and prepare entries for posting by the GL accountant.

- Organize weekly check runs, handling both manual and automated payment processes.

- Manage employee expense reimbursements and assist with the upcoming transition to Time & Expense (T&

E) systems.

- Utilize Great Plains (GP) and Excel to perform reconciliations, analyze reports, and locate missing invoices.

- Support the AP team in meeting deadlines while maintaining accuracy in a high-pressure healthcare environment. Requirements

- Proven experience in accounts payable, including high-volume invoice processing.

- Proficiency in accounting software systems in Great Plains (GP) is a must.

- Strong understanding of account coding and accrual accounting principles.

- Knowledge of automated payment systems, including ACH processes.

- Familiarity with ERP systems and tools like Concur for expense management.

- Ability to perform reconciliations and audits with precision and attention to detail.

- Excellent communication skills for vendor and team collaboration.

- Previous experience in a healthcare or similar fast-paced industry is preferred.
