Property Accountant

Property Accountant Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for assigned properties
• Month-end close balance sheet reconciliations including Bank, AR, Construction in Progress & Fixed Assets
• Journal entries including accruals & prepayments
• Reconciliation of revenue accounts
• Preparation of supporting work papers
• Variance analysis including flux analysis and budget-to-actual review
• Collaboration with property managers
• Review all AR transactions and AP invoices
• Review lease agreements and ensure accurate and timely recording of rental income
• Review and reconcile all loan payments
• Prepare and submit required financial reports to senior management and external stakeholders
• Assist with year-end audit preparations and provide necessary documentation and support to auditors
• Special projects

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
• 4-6 years of progressive General Ledger experience
• Experience compiling accrual based financial statements
• Solid knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Systems savvy with strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)
• Yardi or MRI experience a plus but not essential
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
