Accounting Specialist

Description We are looking for a skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team in San Diego, California. This Contract-to-permanent position is ideal for someone with a strong background in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, along with expertise in transactional accounting. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial operations and reducing billing errors.

Responsibilities:

- Process a high volume of invoices, including 250 purchase order-based invoices per month and daily handling of both purchase order and non-purchase order invoices.

- Manage accounts payable tasks with a focus on accuracy and efficiency while maintaining compliance with company policies.

- Handle cash applications and post cash receipts from checks and electronic payments, averaging 20-50 payments daily.

- Perform deposits on an as-needed basis, typically 1-2 times per week, ensuring proper documentation and reconciliation.

- Reconcile accounts and prepare journal entries to maintain accurate financial records.

- Conduct accruals and assist with month-end closing processes to support timely reporting.

- Utilize accounting software, such as Net Suite, to streamline operations and ensure data accuracy.

- Collaborate with team members to identify and implement strategies for reducing billing errors and improving financial processes.

- Support accounts receivable functions, including lockbox processing and cash-based receiving.

- Leverage Microsoft Excel for tracking, analyzing, and reporting financial data. Requirements - Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on accounts payable and accounts receivable.

- Proficiency in transactional accounting and handling high volumes of invoices and payments.

- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including journal entries and accruals.

- Experience with cash applications and daily cash receipt postings.

- Familiarity with accounting software, particularly Net Suite, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.

- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

- Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and resolving discrepancies.
