About the role

Using SAP and other procurement tools, the Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, goods, and services required for business operations. This position ensures cost-effective purchasing, supplier quality compliance, and timely delivery while supporting production and inventory requirements. The role exercises independent judgment in supplier evaluation, contract negotiation, and procurement decision‑making to optimize supply chain performance and support company operational objectives.

Duties

and Responsibilities Procurement Operations
  • Create, issue, and manage purchase orders in SAP to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Monitor order status, confirm delivery schedules, and resolve supplier discrepancies.
Supplier Management
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers ensuring compliance with quality, certification, specifications, inspection, lead times/on‑time deliveries, and cost requirements relating to parts, materials, tooling and equipment.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and operational efficiency.
  • Communicate professionally with multiple suppliers and internal stakeholders with a focus on managing these suppliers and priorities simultaneously.
Supply Chain Collaboration
  • Coordinate with production, planning, and warehouse teams to maintain inventory levels and prevent shortages or overstock.
  • Act as the primary liaison between internal teams and external suppliers.
Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure suppliers meet applicable quality standards including AS9100 flow‑down requirements and NADCAP compliance where applicable.
  • Recognize and escalate quality, compliance, or delivery risks.
Reporting & Analysis
  • Develop and maintain supplier performance metrics and supply‑chain reports.
  • Analyze purchasing data to identify cost savings opportunities and supply‑chain improvements.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field, or a minimum of 3 years of purchasing or procurement experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience managing multiple suppliers, purchase orders, and contracts across multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment, collaborating with cross‑functional teams and presenting recommendations to management.
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP/MRP systems for procurement, purchasing, and inventory management.
  • Experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs), item master data, and lead‑time management.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to balance operational priorities with long‑term supply‑chain planning.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving ability with a proactive, solution‑oriented approach.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience monitoring supplier performance, lead times, and delivery schedules.
  • Ability to analyze procurement data and supply‑chain metrics to support operational decisions.
  • Knowledge of contract terms, supplier agreements, and purchasing best practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, pivot tables, and lookups.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
  • 3 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing or supply‑chain environment.
  • Experience working in manufacturing, aerospace, or regulated industries.
  • Experience supporting AS9100, NADCAP, or similar quality system requirements.
  • Advanced experience with SAP or other enterprise ERP systems.
Working Conditions

Primarily an office environment with occasional entry into warehouse or production areas. May require occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
