Overview
Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate technician to join our powertrain team and help build flight-critical components for our VTOL electric aircraft. The Joby Aviation team is made up of extremely talented, hardworking, proactive, and hands-on individuals, operating in a very fast-paced and rewarding environment. Come help us build advanced electrical powertrains as we try to make a mark in the transportation industry.
This is a full-time onsite position (San Carlos, CA).
- Working closely with Engineering to build and test battery systems.
- Documenting work and creating work instructions.
- Working on high voltage systems.
- Building Module/Pack down to cell level
- Building test articles, fixtures and reworking parts/assemblies.
- Applying sensors and thermocouples to test articles
- Building systems enclosures for test stands.
- Cleaning and organization of battery build/test lab space.
- Cleaning test lab space and test articles after burn tests. Will require working in a Tyvek suit.
- Handling, packaging, labeling, and disposing of hazardous battery materials in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Discharging and disposal of battery cells.
- Maintaining stock of cleaning supplies and requesting resupply as needed.
- 3+ years of experience on high voltage systems working on batteries.
- Ability to use machines in a shop: mill, lathe, welding (laser, TIG, MIG).
- Experience working with PCBA. Soldering.
- Knowledge of the processing and joining methods of materials.
- Experience working with hazardous materials and following safety guidelines for handling battery components.
- Able to work in a fast paced environment and maintain high standards of work.
- Team oriented attitude.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience with industrial environments and procedures.
- Experience working in a production environment.
- Technical/Engineering related school or training.
- Knowledge of additive and subtractive manufacturing.
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $31-50/hr the compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
