Overview

Position

Guitar Inspector — Distribution

Responsibilities
  • Inspect guitars and amps for cosmetic and functional quality; identify mechanical or cosmetic defects.
  • Perform adjustments, minor repairs, and tuning to meet product specifications using hand tools (calipers, files, truss rod wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.).
  • Place products on workstation and conduct thorough inspections, including cosmetic finish checks and surface quality assessments.
  • File bone nut slots to specification and sand to achieve a smooth radius finish.
  • Measure with ruler and caliper to capture radius specifications and verify component alignment.
  • Tune guitars for playability and intonation; ensure all component parts are installed correctly and meet finish criteria.
  • Adjust components (bridge/saddle, nut, neck, pickups) as needed to meet criteria.
  • Inspect for damage or scratches that do not meet criteria; wipe and buff guitars requiring a smooth shine finish.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of experience and/or training, preferably in production inspection and guitar playing experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong guitar-building, woodworking and finishing skills with a solid understanding of raw material specifications.
  • Excellent knowledge of models in current and past production; familiarity with fret leveling/dressing.
  • Guitar playing background; strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with calipers, micrometers, digital multimeters, guitar-building hand tools, feeler gauges, soldering equipment, and buffing wheels.
