What We Are Looking For

Utilizes Medical Assistant training to provide comprehensive healthcare services and support. Works one-on-one with patients, delivering routine medical care and ensuring their comfort throughout their visit. Provides professionally competent patient care that is tactful, courteous, and sensitive to patient needs and feelings, aligning with SAC Health s mission, vision and values. Efficiently and effectively performs the daily tasks of the clinic.

Performs other duties as needed.

Schedule
: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, Monday - Friday 8:30am-5:30pm with 1hr lunch.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES
  • Provides clinical support; escort patients to an exam room; obtain vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse; collects patient medical history.
  • Under the supervision of a licensed staff, performs basic patient testing within the capacity of MA certification and training (e.g., throat cultures, EKGs, TB skin testing, immunizations, hearing tests, basic visual acuity, urine tests, phlebotomy).
  • Obtain authorizations as necessary for processing patients  required services.
  • Explains and ensures completion of patient required forms and questionnaires.
  • Manages paperwork, medical records, and correspondence according to defined procedures.
  • Scrubs chart to identify patient needs for health maintenance, medications refills, immunizations, etc.
  • Performs orders placed by the provider, within scope of practice.
  • Assists the provider with procedures, sets out instruments and supplies in anticipation of provider needs, and may assist with performing exams as necessary.
  • Maintains clean, organized, and fully stocked lab and exam rooms; cleans both areas daily per policy and guidelines.
  • Processes labs daily ensuring appropriate collection, handling, labeling, and processing of specimens.
  • Processes and follows up on imaging and lab results as assigned.
  • Instructs patients regarding tests and procedures as requested by the provider(s).
  • Maintains logbooks (e.g., refrigerator and freezer temperature logs, oxygen logs) as designated and up to date.
  • Keeps updated on SAC Health programs (e.g., VFC, CHDP, EWC, FPACT); collaborates with provider and patient access team to determine patient eligibility and initiate application process.
  • Assists in storage and handling of all vaccines (private stock and/or VFC) and medications.
  • Flexible to assist in all departmental areas when needed and travel to other clinics as necessary; must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver s license, and auto insurance.
  • Ability to problem solve difficult situations that arise in the work area.
  • Ability to collaborate, support and function in a teaching organization that builds, coaches, and embraces interns, Nurse Practitioner and residency programs; demonstrate a passion for the team and consistently work with rotating doctors, residents, NP students and interns, while building a trusting, patient-centered workplace.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect diversity; work effectively with individuals of different cultures and socioeconomic status.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education:

    High School diploma or equivalent required. Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistance Program required. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
  • Lication/Certification:
    Current CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross), valid California driver s license, auto insurance. EPIC certification for the module hired into is required.
  • Experience:

    Minimum of one (1) year medical office experience preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Experience with VFC program a plus.
  • Essential Technical/Motor

    Skills:

    Ability to use measuring devices and appropriate medical equipment; legible writing and charting skills.
  • Interpersonal

    Skills:

    Strong interpersonal relations;
    English and Spanish fluency preferred with ability to translate medical information. Professional in difficult situations; team-oriented.
  • Work Eligibility:
    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. No sponsorship needed now or in the future.
