The Job

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is recruiting a Health Education Specialist II. The role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating health promotion and education programs, applying appropriate health education concepts and methods, acting as a technical expert in assigned subject matter, conducting community needs assessments, developing measurable objectives, coordinating implementation activities with community and agency partners, and evaluating the impact of education strategies.

ARMC is a public, non‑profit, 456‑bed university‑affiliated teaching hospital located on a 70‑acre campus in Colton, California. It houses a regional burn center, comprehensive stroke center, Level I trauma center, freestanding inpatient behavioral health center, and operates five community‑based primary care clinics and over 40 specialty outpatient services. It is the primary teaching hospital for California University of Science and Medicine.

  • Pre‑Employment Process:
    Background investigation, including employment and education verification.
  • Shift Availability:
    May be required to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.
  • Travel:
    Off‑site travel within the county; mileage reimbursement available; valid Class C driver license and liability insurance required.
  • Sponsorship:
    Positions are not available for candidates requiring visa sponsorship.
Minimum Requirements
  • Option A:
    • Education: Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) or related field with emphasis in Health Promotion and Education, Community Health, Health Administration, Public Health Policy, Global Health, Environmental Health, Health Science, Nutrition, Epidemiology.
    • Experience: One (1) year full‑time equivalent experience in a hospital public health department, health services provider organization, or community‑based health organization, including planning, implementing, and evaluating health education programs, conducting community activities, developing social media campaigns, organizing events, and building community partnerships.
  • Option B:
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health or related field as listed above.
    • Experience: Two (2) years full‑time experience in a role similar to Option

  • * Note:

    Degrees in Psychology, Sociology, or Kinesiology are not qualifying. All degrees must be from a U.S. accredited institution; foreign degrees require an evaluation of equivalency.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a qualifying field.
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) certificate.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, and/or Vietnamese is encouraged and may qualify for additional compensation.
