Overview
The Transitional Assistance Department is recruiting for Employment Services Specialists (ESS) who work directly with program customers in the County's CalWORKs or Behavioral Health programs, assessing employability, providing services needed to obtain employment, conducting workshops, and monitoring individual program compliance using an automated case management system to maintain customer records.

- Review and apply job-specific requirements and ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
- EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year of full-time work experience in ONE of the following programs:
CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work (WTW);
Workforce Investment Act (WIA)/Workforce Development;
Regional Occupation Program (ROP); or Department of Labor to Work Grant Services Program. Experience must include performing ALL of the following:
Outreach, Intake, Interviewing, Referring customers/clients for services. - NOTE:
Eligibility Worker/Technician (CalWORKs, Cal Fresh, Medi-Cal, General Relief) and Child Support Officer/Specialist/Assistant experience are not considered qualifying work experience. - EDUCATION:
Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of college coursework in behavioral/social science, business/public administration, English, math, humanities, administration of justice, or a closely related field. If no associate degree or higher is possessed, a list of completed coursework or legible transcripts must be submitted with the application. - Substitution:
Additional work experience as an Employment Services Technician or equivalent may substitute for the required education on the basis of one (1) year of additional experience for up to fifteen (15) semester (23 quarter) units; additional education will not substitute for experience.
