The Department of Public Works – Solid Waste Management Division is recruiting for a Staff Aide - Solid Waste Division to support the planning, administration, and implementation of Solid Waste programs. The Staff Aide will assist with research, data analysis, training, program coordination, and community outreach to ensure effective operations and compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Responsibilities- Conduct research and assist with studies on administrative and operational matters, including training, procurement, procedures, space utilization, staffing patterns, and equipment usage.
- Review and summarize legislation, program evaluations, and suggestions; prepare summaries of impacts and recommendations.
- Assist in developing and maintaining department procedures, forms, and training materials; conduct staff training under guidance.
- Compile and analyze statistical data for reports, recommendations, and program evaluations; prepare various records, correspondence, and documentation.
- Coordinate or serve as a resource for committees, special projects, and program initiatives; provide recommendations to support program objectives.
- Deliver verbal presentations to provide information, explain program requirements, and promote participation; interpret rules, regulations, and legislation to County residents.
- Assist in conducting surveys to identify target areas for program implementation and distribute program information.
- Represent the department at outreach and educational events to inform residents about compliance requirements and program opportunities.

Education: Thirty (30) semester (45 quarter) units of completed coursework from an accredited college/university in business/public administration, behavioral/social/health science, accounting/finance, or other relevant field of study.

Experience: One (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in project or program planning, compliance/quality assurance activities, public speaking, interpreting policies and standard practices, development of training materials and conducting training, and/or reviewing and applying State and local legislation relating to Solid Waste and environmental programs.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in developing and coordinating projects or programs, assist with staff training opportunities, and exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs, including the creation of professional documents for public dissemination. Familiarity with Access, SAP, and Solid Waste databases are highly desirable.
