Associate Environmental Planner, AH
Department of Transportation – Caltrans Salary: $7,328.00 – $9,178.00 per month (New to State candidates hired at minimum salary of classification or alternate range).
Responsibilities- Under the general direction of a Senior Environmental Planner, conduct architectural and historical studies and project effects analysis for transportation projects pursuant to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Identify and evaluate architectural or other historic built resources as part of the transportation project development process.
- Prepare written analyses of such resources to aid in the development of modal and design alternatives for transportation projects.
- Identify and analyze impacts of transportation projects on historical values and their interrelationships to other cultural resources.
- Develop and recommend mitigation measures to avoid or minimize identified impacts on these resources.
- Lead special projects and provide guidance to less experienced staff.
- CLASSIFICATION: ASSOCIATE ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNER (ARCHITECTURAL HISTORY)
- ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNER (required for consideration)
- Eligibility determined by score on the Associate Environmental Planner (Architectural History) exam or Environmental Planner exam.
- Must be on the state examination list (including transfer, permissive reinstatement, voluntary demotion, or new to state).
- Possession of a valid driver’s license required when operating a state‑owned or leased vehicle.
