Summary- Sunrise Youth Leads work directly with K-12 students to support academic and career success, wellness, and social-emotional learning (SEL).
- Sunrise Youth Leads must have a genuine interest in students' growth and development and the ability to create safe and engaging learning environments.
- Sunrise Youth Leads will also support facilitating student instruction, learning, and enrichment for before- and/or after-school programming.
- Participate in ongoing program recruitment to exceed minimum daily attendance targets;
- Collaborate with existing campus clubs and organizations for program partnerships.
- Develop and implement an Academic & Career Plan (ACP) catered to the needs of each student.
- Provide active, collaborative, meaningful academic intervention and enrichment activities that support subject matter mastery and SEL skill development.
- Maintain both digital and physical student files, collecting and entering all required documentation, including forms, grade checks, assessments, attendance records, case notes, etc., while ensuring student confidentiality.
- Manage time and priorities to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines and key milestones are achieved on time and according to established policies and procedures.
- Manage classroom behavior to create a productive learning environment that prioritizes student safety.
- Facilitate in-person and/or virtual learning that cultivates responsibility, leadership, and service to others.
- Maintain communication with parents to share/obtain information to serve families better and maintain program quality.
- Professionally represent Youth Action Project when conducting all program-related operations with school partners and program liaisons.
- Additional program support duties as directed.
Education & Experience
- Must be 21 years of age or older and provide proof of a High School diploma or G.E.D. Required.
- Additionally, 48 college semester units or 60 college quarter units are required and/or by passing an Instructional Aide Test.
- A bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Experience in a school or youth-support setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, is required.
- Background in English Language Arts, math, behavior management, after-school programming, or social work is a plus.

Skills:
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships through collaboration. Openness, responsiveness, and understanding are key. - Conflict Resolution:
Skilled at addressing and resolving team conflicts with tact and professionalism. - Calm Under Pressure:
Ability to remain composed and focused in high-pressure situations.
- Flexible
Hours:
Ability to work flexible hours to meet deadlines and program needs. - Communication:
Strong communication skills for interacting with students, parents, and stakeholders. - Must be able to convey accurate information professionally.
- Transportation:
Reliable transportation, a valid California Driver's License, and a good driving record are required. - Must maintain state-mandated personal automobile insurance.
- Tech Proficiency:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and project management software. - Certifications:
CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications are required within 30 days of hire. - Must pass a TB test and background check upon hiring.
- Bilingual:
Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
You must be available to work during program hours (the shift varies: 7:00 am-10:00 am on Mondays and 7:00 am-9:00 am Tuesday through Friday). Additional hours for training may be required.
