Job Summary

Location: San Bernardino, CA

Schedule: Tuesday and Wednesday, 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm (minimum 1–5 classes per week during weekday afternoons)

We are seeking enthusiastic, reliable instructors to teach chess to elementary students in an after‑school enrichment program.

• Competitive pay: $55–$75 per class (≈1 ½ hr including setup, instruction, and post‑class duties)

• Lead fun, interactive chess classes for 10–15 elementary students
• Use structured curriculum to teach fundamentals and promote sportsmanship
• Manage a lively classroom with confidence and positivity
• Encourage problem‑solving, creativity, and critical thinking
• Follow school safety protocols (arrival, dismissal, in‑class activities)
• Travel to various local school sites for each session
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to engage students

• Experience working with groups of children (teaching, tutoring, coaching, camp counseling, or similar)
• Comfort leading a class independently and creating interactive, friendly, and fun sessions
• Professional, positive, and kid‑friendly demeanor
• Genuine desire to be a positive role model and promote good sportsmanship
• Strong grasp of chess fundamentals (piece movement, basic strategy, simple tactics) at an age‑appropriate level
• Ability to connect chess problem‑solving to real‑life problem‑solving
• Reliable personal transportation and willingness to drive between locations
• Availability on weekday afternoons, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm to teach 1–5 classes per week
• Commitment to implementing school safety protocols and a strong record of reliability and adherence to policies
• Strong punctuality and time‑management skills

• Resume detailing relevant experience with children in educational, recreational, or mentoring settings, and any teaching/tutoring/classroom experience
• Required questionnaire assessing interest, experience, and qualifications to teach chess

The position is based in San Bernardino, CA. Relocation assistance is not provided; candidates must currently reside in the area or be willing to relocate at their own expense.
