Position Overview
The Equipment Operator/Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment, trucks, and material handling equipment in support of production and transportation needs. This position requires adherence to safety protocols, proper equipment care, and teamwork to ensure smooth daily operations.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities (Essential Functions)- Operate heavy construction equipment such as excavators, front-end loaders, trucks, and other material handling equipment as required.
- Perform pre-shift and post-shift inspections of equipment and vehicles. Document and report any damage, deficiencies, or service needs.
- Recognize hazardous conditions and immediately report concerns to a supervisor.
- Safely operate trucks for the transportation, delivery, pickup, and relocation of products and materials.
- Communicate effectively with others using verbal and non-verbal signals during operations.
- Maintain vehicles, equipment, and tools in clean and safe working condition.
- Follow MSHA safety procedures and company safety standards at all times.
- Demonstrate safe work habits.

RequiredSkills and Abilities
- Knowledge of State and Federal DOT Regulations for Drivers.
- Knowledge of MSHA safety requirements; current MSHA Miner Certification required.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment and trucks under varying worksite conditions.
- Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to equipment operations.
- Mechanical aptitude is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks safely without direct supervision.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to follow instructions.
- Dependable and consistent attendance.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a mine or heavy industrial setting preferred.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Must pass required background checks and drug screenings.
- Ability to work extended hours or alternative shifts when needed.
- Ability to travel to multiple job site locations.
This position is based in outdoor environments, where employees are regularly exposed to weather conditions, noise, dust, fumes, oils, and other airborne particles. Work hours may extend beyond the standard schedule depending on operational needs, and employees may be required to sit or stand for long periods while operating equipment.

- Prolonged sitting, driving, and equipment operation required.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move throughout an 8-15-hour workday.
- Must be able to work in severe weather conditions including heat, cold, and inclement weather.
