Base pay range: $23.00/hr - $25.00/hr
Job SummaryThis position will be responsible for all driver training functions for the CDL training program on campus. The CDL Driver Trainer will have proven longevity in the field, excellent communication skills, and demonstrated physical, intellectual, and leadership ability to perform duties over the road, maneuvering range, and in classroom instruction. The CDL Driver Trainer works under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Education, Program Director, or their designee.

Minimum:
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL):
High School Diploma or GED - 3 years of on-the-road experience within the last 5 years
- Ability to pass our road test, as applicable
- Must have a current DOT medical card
- As operator of Class A equipment, ability to pass DOT drug tests upon hire and on an ongoing basis
- Ability to get in and out of the tractors, lift to 50 lbs., and be on your feet outside, in all elements from 8-10 hours a day.
- Evenings and weekends (Saturday and Sunday) required
- Promote and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of all school policies and ensure their implementation.
- Convene all assigned classes per their start and end times.
- Maintain a safe environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
- Safeguard materials, records, and equipment.
- Abide by all Federal, state, and accreditation/compliance rules and regulations.
- Serve as a professional role model to students.
- Inspire student confidence in school, faculty, and self.
- Maintain professional dress and demeanor.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality when working with students, records, and administrative staff.
- Maintain an attitude of enthusiasm and willingness to cooperate and collaborate.
- Interact with students and fellow employees in a courteous, professional, and positive manner.
- Treat students with fairness, impartiality, and objectivity.
- Provide advanced notification regarding lateness, absence, and vacation schedules during the time of substitute assignment.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of student progress, performance, and attendance, using the tools and technology provided by the institution.
- Deliver instructional material: train students in all areas of trucking/driving, administer written tests, evaluate grades, conduct pre‑trip inspections, and instruct on air‑brake, straight‑line backing, 45‑degree alley‑docking, and parallel parking.
- Utilize effective delivery skills (eye contact, voice intonation, questioning techniques).
- Draw on personal experiences to relate the material presented.
- Required to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) as needed.
